FINRA is doing a good job of making information available to firms and brokers that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy by providing information on their website. So, for those firms and brokers with power, and access to the internets, you're in luck: here's the link to the Industry Communications Related to Hurricane Sandy page.
There, you can see information on FINRA office closures (looks like only the NYC and Woodbridge offices remain closed as of today), information about reserve comps, OATS and TRACE and other reporting systems info and updates, as well as Regulatory Notice 12-45, Guidance to Members Affected by Hurricane Sandy.
All firms with offices or brokers in the affected area, or otherwise impacted by the storm, should review this Notice. The Notice provides good information about what needs to happen - and what does not - when firms relocate brokers from one office to another, had brokers scheduled to take exams or CE courses, firms experiencing delays in responding to regulatory requests, and firms who have employees or agents called to active duty in the Guard or Reserve. Good information, readily available during an unusual situation.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this storm, as well as for those working to provide relief and emergency response services.
